ADS (Addiction Dependency Solutions) is a regional charity established
in 1973 to prevent and reduce the harm caused by alcohol and drugs to individuals,
their families and communities. The organisation has come a long way since
its humble beginnings in cramped fourth-floor offices where the Greater
Manchester Council on Alcoholism was born, with the backing of Manchester's
newly appointed Consultant Psychiatrist for Alcoholism, Dr Brian Hore.
Our core philosophy is to help people find the best within themselves and the
dream was to provide quick response to help and advise people and families suffering
from the shattering effects of alcohol abuse. Over the ensuing years the organisation
grew into Alcohol and Drug Services and in 2007 rebranded as ADS (Addiction Dependency
Solutions). This was the culmination of a 6 month comprehensive review involving
a selection of staff, clients, volunteers, opinion formers and commissioners. The
new corporate identity retains important links with our history but applies a
more fitting and contemporary strap line and logo. This coupled with our new
3 year strategic plan provides us with a significant platform for further growth. Click

Last year we worked with over 16,000 clients. Their stories reflect
the strides so many people make when they become involved with ADS as well
as the commitment of the staff and volunteers who work with them. Click
